Recap: The Center Roasts John Landgraf
The Center roasts John landgraf
Honoring media’s current “it guy” John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks was a real treat. The attention is well deserved, as John has made FX a leading destination for quality, inventive television. And we were honored to salute his commitment to ensuring diversity at FX, which speaks to the heart of our mission.
It was a treat to hear speakers Louis C.K. and Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys thank John for the freedom and encouragement he provides to creators and actors. Luncheon Chair Josh Sapan, CEO of AMC Networks, reminded us of John’s nontraditional journey to media CEO – that barbershop quartet song is still stuck in our brains.
We also got in on the fun by presenting a Cencom research report on how we may have reached saturation point on coverage about John – in other words, “Peak Landgraf.” Finally, John offered his gracious thanks and some inspiring words on creativity: “Our very freedom, the best of humanity,” he said, “are really founded on the path that artists lead us down to a more complex and better understanding of ourselves and our place in this vast mysterious universe.”
As much as we were there to salute John, we were also there to celebrate our community and our mission. We just launched our first forums of the Fall season. It’s an exciting fall schedule and we hope to see you at an upcoming event.
