Center for Communication Honors john landgraf,
CEO, fx networks & fx productions
John Landgraf is one of the business’s most well-regarded programmers, having nurtured such distinctive and critically acclaimed shows as Louie, The Americans, Justified, Rescue Me, Fargo, the American Horror Story brand, and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Under his leadership, FX Networks have garnered 34 Emmys and 139 nominations in just the past three years—remarkable for a relative newcomer in original scripted fare. As a 12-year veteran of FX, he began as president of entertainment in 2004, and was promoted to president and general manager of FX Networks in 2005 before being named CEO in 2013. Landgraf oversees FX Networks, including FX, FXM, FXX, FX Productions and the digital video-on-demand platform, FXNOW.
“John is the kind of rare leader who is highly respected by creators and executives alike—not only for his vision and patience in identifying and cultivating talent, but for his candid assessments of the future of the industry,” said Center for Communication Chairman David J. Barrett. “We are honored to present John with our founder’s namesake award.”
Named for the longtime CBS president and Center co-founder, the Frank Stanton Award recognizes those individuals who have made an indelible mark on the media landscape and exemplify leadership within the industry. Landgraf joins such past honorees as Shane Smith, Ken Lowe, Debra Lee, Josh Sapan, Katharine Graham, William Paley, Ted Turner, and Michael Bloomberg.
Funds raised at the luncheon enable the Center to provide dozens of free educational programs serving thousands of students each year. We connect college and university students with leading media professionals to learn about career opportunities and the latest developments in the ever-evolving media industry.
